If that be true the present K unior Class is casting a shadow that bids fair to all previous Central classesf YN ell. here we are now writing the history ol' that Class ol' 19-12. YVe like the prophecy of eclipsing all previous classes. The eclipse as we see it is. of course, an eclipse ol' the sons. Perhaps more over Central lasses than Central classes. Our astronomical stall lor this eclipse ol' lil-12 was headed by Senior Presi- dent Broughton McCarthy. He had as his assistants 'lack Pearce. vice-president: Tod Doran, secretay: and Henry Clausen, treasurer. To lblll our planet in position lor its eclipse. we started our year by sending nine heftiesflack Berry. Ernest Burns, Harp Cote, Bill Egan. Charles Lavelle. Ray Lynch, Dutch Martin, .lack Pearce and Chuck Strong-to represent us on to the gridiron. Braving the perils of the sport and with an eye towards the admiring females in the bleachers. they gave their all. Our planet is still rotating. Comes winter and comes basketball season. The varsity squad showed the home fans how the game should be played and, on their extensive travels throughout the state they put up a decent showing. Their crowning victory was that over Butte High-the first in live years-for the City Championship. Billy Martin, Brought lXfIcCarthy, Charles Strong and Don Hawe formed the Senior representation on the squad. Perhaps the brightest light our planet gave off was the reflection of the footlights used in Room Service . This proved to be the nearest thing to a Senior Play that Central ever staged-as ten members-Ernest Burns, Jack Cote, Gerald Coleman. Charles Gallagher, Peter Kelly, Tuck McGree. Frank Rohan. Steve Sabol. -Iere Smyth and James Taylor-ol' the cast ol' fourteen were Seniors. Emmett Lowney and George Shea added their artistic talents to those ol' the cast in making the special props what they were. The fame ol' our planet was made known to all through the Senior controlled press with Charles Gallagher as Editor and Alere Smyth, Associate Editor. Sars O'Sullivan, Frank Conklin, Emmett Lowney, John Canty. Bill Lohman, Al Stonich. and Bill Drew all contributed their time and talent towards making the Maroon what it was. YVe don't want to blow our own horn too much, especially since we have such capable blowers in the band and orchestra. Needless to say. our musical organ- izations will sorely miss these numerous Senior members. For the fourth eonxectttixe year Boys' Central won the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest. Bill Lohman was thc author of the winning paper. just as we go to press comes the news that another Senior. Tom Kenna-ally. won third place in the Bankers' Essay Contest. Upon Such a record we reSt our Crue. Right about now our magnetic pe-rSonalitieS are exercising a Slowing effect on our planet. ,XS it tonnes to a Stop. we will ask the Mount XVilSon observa- tory to tell us whether or not we have Created an unprecedented eclipse. They were chatting to each other ofaages long gone by And as they spoke of '-ll each heaved a painful sigh. lt was Lohman and O'Sullivan who chatted thus and so' lt was two boys of '42 promenading to and fro, 4 On whose tete a tete I by luck had stumbled: So l drew a little nearer. and here is what they mumbled' Paul Lowney, the political boss, ls really sitting pretty. For with Canty as his right hand man He runs an open city. Stoinich is city doctor lVith Burns there at his side: They fumigate us once a year lVith a thing called chloramide . Kelly, Kelly, and Murphy. A law lirm ol much note: Have lound their biggest case. In Burns' right to be a poet. Martin, tl1e great French author, Has certainly lound fame: And Clausen. Gessner and Hanley As salesmen made a name. Smyth's a Communist orator Outside of Cote's bars, ll'here Gallagher runs a telescope Covered with phony stars. Crnich is a contractor, Xvith Maher his engineer. But the only thing they're doing ls drinking Berry's beer. LeSage has turned mechanic. 'Iihe best one in the town: Hut as soon as one is lixed up Michaud breaks it down. They say the XVarden Tuck McCree Has made a great decision: For he has let Guard Murphy out lielore he wrecked the prison. Drew and Rohan are undertakers .-Xnd Egan drives their hearse. Turk, the sherill. gives 'em work For which thev're none the worse. 'liim Crowley leads a symphony, And Colley leads a band. Pelletier is a violinist And with Verbanac tours the land. Chuck Darcy is a grocer lVhile 'l'aylor's unemployed, Ray's a fence in Brooklyn Where they say he's quite the boid Coleman's still in college, A teacher he will be: At least we hope he makes it By nineteen ninety-three. Rosellini runs a night club, ll'here Conklin runs a table: But where they get their biggest swa ls from Senator Steve Sabol. Kenneally runs a model farm lX'ith Sullivan. Strong and Shea: They irrigate from Silver Bow But can't seem to make it pay. .lack Pearce is now a plumber XYith a shop upon the Hill: And Pat O'Neill is at the Con: lVhere he runs a diamond drill. Yunkers a psychiatrist But he runs his own hotel: McCoy gives him competition For he runs the new motel. Dutch Martin coaches Central Assisted by O'Hrien: 0' O And though their backs are pretty fail They have a rotten line. Dillon and Joe Lynchehan Now own the cemetery: Their biggest job in recent weeks lVas interring Mayor Ferry. McCarthy is the admiral Ol' the U. S. two-way navy: Lavelle is now his gunner-chief And Lynch serves up the gravy. Bernie O'Brien and Lester Both own a clothing store: And with all ol' Rudman's costumes 'Tis really quite a chore. Gleason, McGee and Stetzner Are at Boeing's testing planes For engineer Tod Doran. XVho didn't waste his brains. Starting on December 20 with a victory over Miles City, the potentially powerful team went through a decidedly in and out season, for though usually playing an inspired game at home the boys seemed to fall apart on the road. The team partially redeemed itself for its lapses on the road by returning the City Championship to Central for the first time since 1937 when they defeated the strong Butte High team, 30-28.
