This work was completed in February and has made a great improvement in the Agriculture Department. Again this year our members have won their share of prizes at the local fairs. Mark Longacre won a cash award in the statewide Pennsylvania Electrical Association Contest. The Chapter was presented with a duplicate cash award at the same time. Over 800 entries were submitted and forty prizes totaling S500 were awarded in this contest. Longacre has conducted four projects in the Vocational Agriculture course, con- sisting of 225 New Hampshire red chicks and eight laying hens, 300 Rocks Hamp cross chicks, and 112 laying hens. After graduation Mark plans to work on his father's dairy farm. Mark Longacre receives a cash award from Murrill D. This staff puts together the variety show that is given each year for the purchasers of patron tickets as an expression of our appre- ciation. This year the show was given on February 8 to a capacity crowd. The art staff, Paul Lelko, editor, has given its all for the book. This year the art staff was even more important l than usual, because of the introduction t . . COVQI' and lTlOSll of the Othel' dl'3Wll'lgS Wells select pictures for the Bear. Looking over the throughout the book. Paul received an award from the Pennsylvania Scholas- tic Press Association for a drawing in the 1950 Bear, and we're confident of another one for his work in this year's book. Last year the annual Pennsylvania Scholastic Press Association was held in Allen- town, Pennsylvania. Quite a few of the members of both the Bear and the Club staff attended this convention. At the PSPA convention, George Haddad won awards for two of his pictures which appeared in the 1950 Bear. It was at that time that Paul Lelko won his award. It was a memorable occasion which will not soon be forgotten by those who attended. Besides the awards that were won at this time, the book itself was given a First Class Honor Rating by the National Scholastic Press Association. This was a great honor which everyone connected with the yearbook was proud to receive. We hope that with the combined efforts of the art staff, which is so important to the capturing of interest in the theme of our work, the literary staff, that writes the copy in such a tricky and interesting mannerg the business staff, that keeps the money straight and without whom it would be practically impossible to publish this bookg the photo- dlvlders for the yearbook are P.
