The All Work For a Bourrulul Harvest ach y a g f Vl o B y a ghbor ng s y Fut ta d at ul EalLtha ofth s of m v d th The Future Farmers ol Amerua Brunner Chapter rs a group of boys enrolled rn the course of xocatronal agriculture rn the Boyertown Hrgh School This organrzatron was found ed and was operated for the boys who will some day be farmrng or workrng rn a related rndustry Naturallv the whole program of work must evolve upon the basrs that all learning actrvrty should lead toward greater proficiency rn the field of agriculture This year of 1900 marks the com pletron of eleven years wor k Phe vw ork accomplished during these eleven years marked a policy of tryrng hundreds of various actrvrtres and keeping the good and discarding the chaff Each vear of school actrvrty rs a com ponent of a whole group of actrxrtres therefore this year rs the rmportant year as far as the present boys rn the F F A are concerned Let us then T1 enty tr btartrng with the field crop project last summer and on into the harvest of last fall the F F A members planted cultrvated and husked the largest corn crop that the chapter ever produced They harvested over 1500 bushels of corn whrch was sold to the members for feed for lrvestock In August 1949 the F F A members showed 42 head of lrvestock at the Kutztown Farr vrrnnrng over S600 00 rn prrze money Wrllram Kleman won the reserve Grand Championship of all breeds vrrth hrs Berkshire Sow In September at the Reading Farr the members of the Chapter again won over S5700 00 rn prrze money and Wrllram Kleman finally vron the Grand Cham pronshrp of all breeds whrch rs the hrgh est award to be attained rn a lrvestock show Wrth the openrng of school the chap 0 E e r a roup of armers in the 'cinity f o ertown nd nei i communitie receive honorar ure Farmers certificates for having done outs n ing work in their p r ic ar field. r a s w is presenting one ese degree to one an, farmers who receive em this year.
