Y. U. hike begins the ascent up the long, winding trail to the top of Mount Timpanogos. The climbers are led by an experienced leader who sets the tempo-controls the speed and directs the short but necessary rest periods. Those who follow his directions usually reach the top. Generally some strong ones, impatient at the restraint, go their own way. They are petered out before the summit is reached. And I wondered if successful living is not. after all, a series of rhythmic habits. If we eat wholesome food at regular interval, take our much-needed sleep at definite times, and if our work and recreation are properly interspersed, do we not feel the glow and tingle of life that come with the sense of well-being. Would not our school life be happier and more successful if we set our time to a rhythm.c pattern of study periods. rest, and recreation? I am sure recreation is more enjoyable when taken in moderate doses, between periods of work. School is more satisfying when we feel the joy of success that comes from honest endeavor. And so we may make the music of life a sweet melody, full of harmony and rhythm, when the spiritual. the mental. and the physical is set at the right tempo that brings each to a joyous fruition. President: Veat Jensen. Secretaryflnreasurer. Tie .yeniot 61144 We, the Senior Class of '37, began our journey through high school with a serious purpose in mind. Our aim was to make this class so successful that we could look back with fond memories of our pleasant and profitable experiences at Box Elder High. Have we accomplished our aim? No doubt the big majority of the class would say that we had. We feel that nowhere else could we have spent our time to better advantage. We appreciate the opportunities our school offers for growth and development in many different fields of learning. We are proud of our colors and hope that we shall always be a credit to Box Elder High. Though we have regrets in leaving we are grateful for our contacts here. We know that we are far better prepared to cope successfully with the problems of life as a result of the training received at Box Elder and the friendships formed while here. However, we must not stop now, Seniors. Let us use this knowledge and experience as a foundation for higher achievements. We wish to express our appreciation to our advisers for the help and guidance they so willingly have given us. XVe especially want to thank Dad Beecher who has been with us for three years. To the future Senior Classes. We wish you success at Box Elder High School. the best school in the state. f? Afton Sycamore Kenneth Enckson Delores Jensen M111 Brunku lxfllflk. The .gnttamutaf -Hthfetic program A new program was started at Box Elder this year which thus far has proved very popular with all students and which should grow to be one of the outstanding activities at our school. The intramural athletic program had its beginning in the college and in every section of the country is an outstanding program. In most sections the program is definitely on its way. In the high schools of Utah it is merely in its infancy. Box Elder is one of the first schools to attempt a full time intramural program. It is our plan to make Box Elder an even better school by making it a leader in this new program. The purpose of the program is well founded in a few definite aims and objec- tives: l. Mental development. 2. Physical development. 3. S oc i al adjustment. 4. Worthy use of leisure time. 5. Better citi- zenship. In no way does our program interfere with the high school athletic program but instead discovers new material and through the mass participation program helps de- velop them for our future teams. We have built a firm foundation. Now it is our job to build an outstanding intra- mural program in this section of the country. VERNAL J. HARRIS ,Z ,J 24' .gn tta Kale m 1 f f f fi!!! Many good old faces were missingbut there were new ones to take their places. September ll, 12: We celebrated Peach Day as is our custom by taking an active part in the parade. The Boys' and Girls' League were or- ganized and on the 28th the Girls' League gave a most successful Kid Party for girls only. OCTOBER October, the month for football, furn- ished a lot of thrills and chills. Beginning with the homecoming game with Bear River 20-0. We won them all. The B on the hill was admired and the pep rallies enjoyed. Had two days holiday at the end of the month. It was enjoyed by every- body. NOVEMBER More football. Everyone who could walk ride or stow awa went to Carbon 1 v Y and helped defeat the gallant Dinosaurs 13-7. Harvest Ball was again successfully spon- sored by the E. F. A. with Beryl Hansen as Harvest Queen. Lost our final game with Jordan at the U Stadium l3-7. We still say what a team. DECEMBER The best vaudeville produced in a long time was put through by the Girls' League. Built around a book theme it was very clever. Preceding the Christmas holidays the alumni program and dance were held. The old grads returned and uttered words of wisdom to we lesser mortals. We are always glad to see them. Come again. Oh joy of joy two weeks of holiday. JANUARY Winter is here for sure. The lyceum number by Eagle Plume will long be remembered by all those fortunate enough to hear him. We played first basketball game with Bear River, though we lost, our team looks grand. A variety of five one-act plays were directed and presented by Nial Nelson. FEBRUARY Annual Bee Ette Sweetheart Ball was held. Everybody enjoyed a gay evening. Our basketball boys came to the front tripping the clever Ogden team. The fol- lowing week they repeated their perform- ance and won from Weber. MARCH Featuring a date bureau the All Club Night Dance was a very successful affair. Jonesy the school honor play was presented several times to very appreciative audiences. Monroe High School's Orchestra De Luxe entertained us most royally. Come again. Crowning the year's social season the Junior Prom afforded the students an opportunity to don formals and enjoy a wonderful evening of dance. APRIL Spring at last with the campus swarm- ing with spring football players. The annual Bunny Hop was enjoyed by a large crowd. A new day was inaugurated known as l'Home Economics Day. Many mothers visited the school and were entertained by their daughters. MAY The month we have been looking for all year. A dancing review was presented. The faculty reception for the Seniors was de- lightful. Our parents visited school once more and viewed the work completed by the students in the different departments. The Senior Play was presented in a pleasing manner. Closing a most successful school year. The People Drug Co.
