The first big transition through which we pass is that of coming from a limited view of the world to a broader awareness of events taking place around us. This is a time when lite is moulding a new individual. Part of this is accomplished through education. Youth is al- ways susceptible to new concepts. Through educa- tion we must develop the reasoning to distinguish between the good and bad of these ideas, to be self-reliant, and to give of ourselves. Study, Home- work. Questions. Answers. Success. Failure. These are but a part of the learning process initiated here. Ea'ucaZz'0n I nstills C0njQ'a'ence X A .4 X ah There are many rewards to acquiring an education. Perhaps the most obvious is a greater knowledge of the world in which we live, but the most satisfying is attaining the self-assurance that comes with learning. Ed- ucation is the key to success, for a world which stretches vast and unknown is o diffi- cult challenge. Through study, however, we learn to understand life, and in this process comes a knowledge of ourselves and our surroundings which will be retained. Finally, this knowledge is instrumental in the reali- zation of the personal goals that we have pursued with confidence. We are eager to set new and higher goals and to attain a greater degree of perfection in all we do. Incorporated with this enthusiasm, the confidence of others-teachers, parents, friends-encourages determination to prove our own merit. Determination leads to oc- complishment, the reward of confidence, and the many aspects of worthy achieve- ment are enmeshed in the transition from child to young adult. A ccomlblislzment Strengthens We gain character through accomplishment. Not only scholastic achievement, but also through the trial and error of daily living. , Every error is a stepping stone because it makes us more aware of the right and wrong way of doing things and this, indeed, is progress. Worthwhile accomplishment of- t ten requires sacrifice, but those who make significant contributions through effort and perseverance are rewarded with the satis- , faction of a iob well done. This helps to cle- 1 velop a well-rounded character, and character i is that intangible distinction which identifies i each of us as individuals. Character Sieve Collms Cfourihl, Don Olson lflrsij ship Tesf Stale winners. Bruce Beck Cninthl, Ohio General Scholar- .-.f' Character Is Manwsted in Maturz'1jj1 As the experiences and friends we have ac- quired in meeting our curricular require- ments have helped us to develop our own personality and character, so this character will form the foundation at the transition into mature adulthood. This transition is a delicate one, for here are sown the seeds of a new generation which will shape the des- tiny of the next century. Thus, we hope that as graduation approaches, a new maturity is emerging-our own. 13 Q Q , ,-5 5 x 34 LY E35 T Mg. K ,,,- Q nw . list x Lffiihfii S4 2,2 ar, 'S 'W - . Many months of hard work are required to produce an outstanding high school annual. We also congratulate the seniors who have success- fully completed their high school years. Remember that your school is still available to serve you as a graduate. We trust that those who are returning will do all that is possible to perpetuate the high standards estab- lished by our first graduating classes.
