V1 Lose EMO Crown BGHS cross-country track team won two meets from Van-Far this year beating the Indians the re on Sept. 25 and again on Oct. 9, with Mexico also run- ning. Bowling Green lost to Hannibal on Oct. 6, and later in the season placed second in a meet held at Mexico with Hannibal, Montgomery City, and Van- Far running. Bowling Green placed seventh at the Hancock invitational meet held in St. Louis on Oct. 10. Carl Kent placed 26th among the 160 partic- ipants in the district track meet Oct. 23 at War- renton. He also placed 33rd in a field of 40 at the state meet on Oct. 31. BGHS varsity track team won three invitational meets fbeating Clopton and Elsberry on April 23 Wellsville on April 6, but lost their EMO conference crown to Warrenton April 27 . Phillip Stapleton set a new conference and school record at the EMO conference at Warrenton in the low hurdles in 21.15 sec. Bowling Green placed third out of 16 teams par- ticipating in the Louisiana Invitational Track Meet April 16. James Rose placed fourth in the half mile run at the District meet held in Kirksville. Bowling Green did not qualify for the state meet. Bursting from the starting block is BGHS 880 relay lead-off man, James Rose. He was undefeated in the half-mile until a leg injury hampered his nin- ning. Low-hurdle speedster Danny Stapleton shows how he broke the jr. varsity school track record for this event, running the course in 23.6. Charlie Brown was the former champion with a 23.85 mark. The last step! gasps undefeated Wayne Wendel as he breaks the tape in the mile run. I7

Intramurals Draw Dodgeball Flag Football Smiling over a hard-fought dodgeball championship game are KNEEHNG from 1. Judy Rolen, Jeanette Welch, Candy Reading fcaptainj, Kathie Beddies, Joyce Edwards, Donna Haden, Donna Cordes. STAND- ING Darlene Hobbs, Linda Pargeon, Helen Luebrecht, Melva Feldmann, Barbara Stewart, Ellen Niemeyer, and Judy Bibb. Coach Dave Kissinger isn't about to be caught in the middle when he blows that whistle to mark the CHARGE signal in a flag football intramural contest. Flag football is the only intramural limited to boys. The girls play Indian-Dodgeball until flag football is completed. Girls' Basketball After defeating Janet Scherder's team 29-16 to win the championship are: KNEELING 1.--r., Sandy Orf, Cathy Williams, Joyce Bailey, captain, and Becky Kelch.
