Or hiding from the cameraman? Anyway, Chris Straube was up at bat, the 'Cats in the cage waited their turns. Baseball Begins Early This year's Bobcats compiled a 4-2 record, good enough for second place in the EMO conference. A last-day defeat by Montgomery R-Il knocked the Cats out of first place. Bill McPike was the team's leading pitcher with 3-Og Mike Rogers had a 1-2 record. ROW 1: fl. to r.j Phillip Harris, Chris Straube, John Weber, Terry Flood, Mike Rogers, Donald Brewer, Charlie Brown, Danny Lewis, and Bubby Mullins. ROW 2: Assistant Coach, Gary Wacker, Ronald Rogers also led the team in hitting with a .500 batting average. John Weber was next with .400. Sept. 2 was opening date and the BG 9 downed Troy 6-5 in a night game. Clopton came next on Sept. 8. Scoring 4 runs in the seventh inning, the Hawks went home with a 9-6 win over Bowling Green. In an extra-inning game at Van-Far, BG was outhit 9-2 but won 3-1, scoring two runs in the top of the eighth. The next victory was a 4-3 win over Wellsville. In the final game, Montgomery R-II whalloped Coach Dave Kissinger gives last-minute instructions before attacking Montgomery. BG 15-1, ending Bobcat hopes for a conference crown. Second baseman and utility pitcher, Mike Rogersg shortstop, John Weber, and centerfielder, Ted Smith were named to the EMO all-conference baseball team.
