Bowie faced a rebuildingjob after losing 17 seniors following the 1952 season that showed 8 wins and Z losses. Senior backs Clifford McCraw, C. H. Kirby and Jimmie Cooper with junior Paul Farmer provided a backfield of four capable operators that gave Bowie five wins in a ten game schedule. Cooper and Kirby established s c o ring records that stand among the high in Bowie High School football history. Cooper chalked up 111 points and Kirby 48 in the 10-game schedule. Paul Farmer scored the most cherished one when he tallied a 6-pointer against Nocona for all the game's scores. McCraw was a hard-hitting blocking back for the ball carriers. Charles Stayton and Clifford McCraw were selected on the all-district eleven and Jimmie Cooper on the Znd eleven. C. H. Kirby received honorable mention for the all-state class AA team. Bowie wins in 1953 were over Nocona, Decatur, Wichita Falls Rowdies, Laneri of Ft. Worth and Diamond Hill of Ft. Worth. Defeats were handed down by Graham, Electra, Mineral Wells, Handley and Jacksboro. The follow ing seniors will be lost by graduation: Jimmie Cooper, C. H. Kirby, Jim Pat Smith, Ben Hill, Bobby Stambaugh, Terry Morgan,Clifford McCraw, David Anderson, Charles Stayton, Prentiss Rhyne, Ivon Bennett and Jerry Randolph. .3 4 f 4, 13 .
