Pupils of the Howie High, you have reached the first rounds on Life's ladder. You will have to do your own climbing. There will be those to pull you down every time a round is reached. The height to which you climb will be determined to a great extent, by the attitude which you assume in High School Life. Ask yourself this question, VVhat kind of a man or woman do you intend to be out in future life? I will answer this question for you, if you intend to be suecessful in whatever you do. Build your foundation on firm clay. and not on the sand. This will be aeeomplished only with much difficulty. There will be times when you will want to quit. This is the time when it takes a real man or woman to get up and keep going. Self-reliance and determination to go through with the thing you have started, backed by love and honesty, will make you win in Life's hard struggle.
