S11llll'7ll'.V and Ex-Stuzfwzts of Bowie lliyh Svlmol: Another year has passed with its hopes and successful achievements. VVe appre- ciate the good spirit shown by the student body during the past year. A healthy, hearty school spirit may often be bequeathed by students of one year to those who follow. We believe that you have learned that life's greatest values are not measured in material things. To be able to stand on your own resources and grapple with lifels problems, and battle to success is one of the greatest assets any person can obtain. Our school has been admitted to the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools of the Southern States. This places us in a higher rank than We have here-to- fore enjoyed. This comes as a result of the good work done by the faculty and students, and we feel that it is a recognition of merit. We want each student and ex-student to feel that Bowie High is his school, and that he is, to a degree, 1'esponsible for its success or failure. The old school will always Welcome you. Your achievements will reflect credit 01' discredit on your Alma lylater. and Bowie High will stand or fall on the merits of its student body and graduates. Dan L. dlarfirz, lf. S., Sllf7Fff7Iff'7lllI'7lIf of Sl'll00f.Y I 1 l':i'i'l:'i' r P RI NCI PAIXS MHSSAC IH Sir -:- -1:- 4- -1:- -:- E5 4lf'z'e'lir1gs.' This is my first year in the Iiowie High, and I can truly say that I have been happy in my work with you. Pupils of the Howie High, you have reached the first rounds on Life's ladder. You will have to do your own climbing. There will be those to pull you down every time a round is reached. The height to which you climb will be determined to a great extent, by the attitude which you assume in High School Life. Ask yourself this question, VVhat kind of a man or woman do you intend to be out in future life? I will answer this question for you, if you intend to be suecessful in whatever you do. Build your foundation on firm clay. and not on the sand. This will be aeeomplished only with much difficulty. There will be times when you will want to quit. This is the time when it takes a real man or woman to get up and keep going. Self-reliance and determination to go through with the thing you have started, backed by love and honesty, will make you win in Life's hard struggle. The great have not become great because of what others have done. but because of what they have done themselves. John lf. Lr Zc'i.r, lf. S., l'r'I111'ifvf1f of the lligh School Vnyft' I I ull Vlks. These regulars with the rockwall line-playing of Q. 'lin our mind there is that indescribable something that enters into every work of art that can not be placed the1'e merely by the EQ artistls hand, but is rather a part of the very fibre and soul of those 1-K who are ent1'usted with its creation. Some call it personality, some genius. some inspiration.-but we prefer to think of it as going deeper than that and deem it that spark of the Uivine that flashes from the soul of every individual who undertakes a worthy deed. Surely the student body of this school is under an everlasting debt of gratitude to those individuals who have given of the best they have to the end that others may be made happy. YVe congratulate them on the splendid results they have accoin- plished and are proud of the part that we have had in making a reality this splendid year book. YVork of this character requires the highest skill and closest attention, and therefore we accept only a limited number of contracts each year. VVe look upon the .IACKRABBIT as one of our old friends and trust that we may have the privilege of serving this loyal student body again and again in the years to come. fordially and sincerely, GIAXYLE lDRlN'l'lNG UUMPANY XVaco, Texas, Klay lst. 1923.
