The two lead- ing hitters for Bowen were Hartley with .370 and Corse with .3o8. The line up consisted of Scott- pitcher, Nichols-catcher, Hartley-lb, Randolph-Zb, Corse-ss, Orr-3b, Bennett and Hogan-lf, Webster- cf, Ridings and Crear-rf. Here are the scores: Augusta 8 Bowen 13 Plymouth 2 Plymouth 12 Bowen 3 Colusa 6 Bowen O Bowen I+ Augusta 12 Liberty 1-If Bowen l Bowen lb Bowen 2 Bowen 1 Central O Colusa 3 Bowen 3 Bowen played Augusta their first game and were beaten by a decisive 8-3 score. Liberty l Then we traveled to Plymouth and were unable to rattle the bats as we were shut out. Bowen came back to lose to Augusta as the defense fell through. Bowen played their best game of the year when they beat Central 1-O. Max Scott pitched a beautiful game with Bowen getting their lone run in the 7th inning on a hit and run play where Hogan hit a double to score Scott all the way from first base. Liberty came next and Bowen won 3-1. It was too good to be true as Ply- mouth wallopped us 12-I+. We got another winning streak going, taking two from Colusa. After about a week layoff we traveled to Liberty and suffered our fifth defeat. We are looking forward to a much better Spring season. . .,-,. ,-,...l..,,ll.,, ....- .., , I.. BASKETBALL 1955-1956 lCont'dJ Plymouth, 58 to 56. We won three straight and lost another close one to Warsaw, 64+ to 63. On February 23, we entered the District Tournament at Nauvoo, and again victory was ours 83 W0 downed Nauvoo and Golusa for the District Title. Then on Feb. 27, we entered the Carthage Regional Tournament. This time victory was not on our side as we won against Plymouth, but lost to Dallas City, 59 to 56, to bring our 993909 to 3 close' We should also be proud that Bowen got the most valuable player trophy, awarded to Max Scott. Our team was made up of Jim Hartley, 6'3 , playing the pivot. LWTSUCS Riding. 5'2 o forward- Hsrold Vsach 5'8 forward and Bill Corse and Max Scott, 5'8 guards. son.
