Second Grade Study Age of Wonderment This is the age of wonderment. 1 wonder what we find on our planet Earth? 1 wonder what is in outer space ? 1 wonder what happens to my food when I swallow it? Besides trying to find answers to all the wonder questions. We are busy' learning the basic math combinations, learning to read and understand better, and write our own thoughts and ideas. First Grade Learn Their Five Senses The first grade youngsters are delighted with the fact that they know how to read! They have learned about their 1 'Five Senses'' and are learning other things about themselves. The study of the ' 'Ocean'', Magnets and Dinosaurs has proven to be fascinating to them. Fourth Grade Studies Energy Fourth Grade highlights were choosing a musical instrument, taking individual band lessons, and performing a tumbling routine at the Y. T. C. tournament. An energy program presented by M.D.U. made us aware of the various forms of energy and what can be done to conserve energy. Science was fun especially the experiment with brine shrimp. They viewed some film strips, films, and discussed good health habits with the county nurse. The students and their teacher kept a progress chart on a health habit they wanted to improve. A final stress was placed on dental health. They learned the proper way to brush their teeth and the effect of an improper diet on their teeth. Kindergarten Learn Communication Skills »y Birthdoy This year the Kindergarten learned communication skills and language development through group living and other types of creative play. They all are going to miss kindergarten, but are anxiously awaiting another exciting year. Mrs. Buechler provided remedial reading and Mrs. Dravland was the speech and hearing therapist. Teachers providing special assistance to students with special needs this past year were Mrs. Person and Mrs. Gross. Mrs. Person was the elementary music instructor. Mrs. Gross taught English 1, Grammar II, and Grammar IV, and aided individuals with language arts problems. 27
