DEDICATION To be a good teacher one must possess qualities of great patience and under- standing. A teacher who possesses these qualities and has for the past four years, is Miss Olga Wagner. She has been patient with us while we struggled with our problems and somehow has always managed to pull us in out of the rain. She has spent many endless hours in helping the annual staff with the yearbook. For this and much more the Senior Class wishes to dedicate the 1967 BOBCAT to Miss Olga Wagner. The Senior Class of Bowdle High School wishes to dedicate the 1967 BOBCAT to a teacher who has been with us for six years. In these six years we have come to know him as a fine educator and a reliable person. He has captured the respect and admiration of the entire student body of Bowdle High School, and has served as a friend and guide-step to all. Thank you very much, Mr. D. Dale Wooledge. 3

SEATED: Gideon Schuh, Treasurer; Alvin Kurle; Mike Mitzel, Vice Chair- man; Wilmer Schaible, Clerk; Alvin Bauer; Harold Nies. STANDING: Robert Putnam, Superintendent; Duane Steiger, Chairman. The Board of Education has many important functions. Their major function is to provide the school children of the school district with the best educational oppor- tunities possible. They are the governing body and policy-making group of the school district. Also, they are the connecting link be- tween the public which sup- ports the school, and the professional personnel which administers the school. This group serves with out re- muneration, except for expenses; they are volun- tary servants of the people of the community. This is truly a striking example of democracy in action. CAPTAINS CONTROL SCHOOL In the fall of the year when school begins, the Student Council starts the planning of all the Homecoming ac- tivities. They plan the cor- onation, skits, snake dance, bon fire, and football game. They are one hundred per cent responsible for the success of Homecoming. Throughout the year the Stu- dent Council also sponsors money raising projects to raise funds to support its activities and helps to es- tablish standards of conduct and dress for school functions. SEATED: Janice Goldade, Treasurer; Sharlene Bollinger, Secretary; Karen Zimmer, President; Ronnie Mitzel, Vice President; Mr. Wooledge, Advisor. STANDING: Pat Miller, Wayne Buechler, Janet Buechler, Susan Carlson, Florence Stern, Judy Huber, Cathy Gross, Richard Du (loth, Susan Dewald, Paul Bachman. 2

The Bobcat staff was confronted with many problems as they tried to meet ’’three deadline dates instead of the usual one as was done in previous years. Other changes made were: Copy reset by printers, extending the year- book to 56 pages, and switching to hard covers. The days came and went like lightning as the staff struggled to fit pictures, copy, and head- ings unto the pages. Many times all patience was worn to a thin frazzle. There was no relaxation until the last shipment was sent, in February of 1967. But when the finished yearbooks came in May, the staff had faces which showed smiles of great satisfaction. The staff presents this book to you in hopes that it will help you re- live some of the year’s important happenings. 4
