SEATED: Gideon Schuh, Treasurer; Alvin Kurle; Mike Mitzel, Vice Chair- man; Wilmer Schaible, Clerk; Alvin Bauer; Harold Nies. STANDING: Robert Putnam, Superintendent; Duane Steiger, Chairman. The Board of Education has many important functions. Their major function is to provide the school children of the school district with the best educational oppor- tunities possible. They are the governing body and policy-making group of the school district. Also, they are the connecting link be- tween the public which sup- ports the school, and the professional personnel which administers the school. This group serves with out re- muneration, except for expenses; they are volun- tary servants of the people of the community. This is truly a striking example of democracy in action. CAPTAINS CONTROL SCHOOL In the fall of the year when school begins, the Student Council starts the planning of all the Homecoming ac- tivities. They plan the cor- onation, skits, snake dance, bon fire, and football game. They are one hundred per cent responsible for the success of Homecoming. Throughout the year the Stu- dent Council also sponsors money raising projects to raise funds to support its activities and helps to es- tablish standards of conduct and dress for school functions.
