Big Moment Arrives The evening of May 15 1965, proved to be bright and clear—a perfect time to explore the magic and mystery of the wild. A safari, sponsored by the Junior Class, had been In the planning stage for several months and now was ready to begin. With the seniors as their spe- cial guests, they embarked on a Journey which would take them Deep In the Jungle. Entering by a path cut through dense foliage, the safari members came upon a large clearing. Here they rested and partook of an array of exotic foods after which they danced to the native beat of the Gasllghters. Wearied from their many ac- tivities, the explorers settled down to watch the movie Woman of Straw. Then It was time to go home. The 1965 Jr.-Sr. Prom had gone from a dream to a real- ity to a memory. The banquet, deliciously prepared by the Junior mothers, was served to the honored Juniors and seniors by eight sophomores dressed as wild game hunters. They weres Janet Buechler, Karen Zimmer, Cathy Gross, Arvls Lemke, Alan Person, Richard Dufloth, Roger Jacobson, and Maurice Hoffman. 1. During the dance punch was served In the head witchdoctor's hut. 2, 3, 6. The grand march was the beginning of a delightful evening of dancing and gaylety. The variety of music provided by the dance band pleased everyone. 5. After-banquet entertainment was provided by several Juniors. They sang Witchdoctor, of course! 6. The Gasllghters Interrupted the program of dancing with a hootenanny which consisted of folk songs, Jokes, and group singing. So The Jury Was Hung—a farce presented by the Junior Class depicting the trouble a jury runs into when it is composed of var- ied personalities. A Crazy Violet—a sus- pense comedy portray- ed by the Sophomore Class which kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The mystery revolved a- round two identical suitcases, one of which presumably con- tained a set time bomb. The audience was delightfully sur- prised when the bomb turned out to be a fur coat.' Tramps, Teens, and Terrors-- a comedy act full of confu- sion and suspense presented by the Senior Class. The cli- max was reached when the go- rilla escaped from his cage. And then the fun beganJ Students Enjoy One-Act Play Contest On April 9, 1965 Bowdle High School held its first annual one-act play pro- gram. It consisted of three one-act plays put on by the Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Classes. The Senior Class was presented a plaque for having the best play. Awards were also given to the best actors and actresses for their fine performances. The audience greatly enjoyed this event, but not so much as the students who participated. To them it was many hours of hard practice which was actu- ally more fun than work. “B” Team Cheerleaders The cheerleaders yell- ing for the B Team are Susan Dewald, Flor- ence Stern, Pam Knecht, and Karen Schmierer. Pep Club Rallies For Team When the team is out striving for victory, the girls are right behind them in the form of the Pep Club.
