Chosen in the fall of the school year by the student body, the Student Coun- cil attempted throughout the school year to provide the medium between the faculty and the students. Being in charge of the Homecoming Festivities was Just one of the many activities that kept the Student Council occupied during the school year. Another was the adoption of a constitution to aid the students of Bowdle High to better the school government in every possible way. A National Honor Society was established for the first time in Bowdle High School this year. For a name the chapter chose Dirigo Honor Society which in Latin means I lead . Four Seniors and four Juniors met the requirements and became charter members on the basis of scholar- ship, character, and service to the school. A grade of B or higher must be maintained in order to hold membership in the Honor Society. 23

Marianne Zimmer is Vice President, Maryalice lazier is Secretary, Carolee Huft is Treasurer, and Bonna Berg and Vicki Schlepp are promoters. The Pep Club led by the cheerleaders, did a fine job in persuading students to attend the games. Throughout the year posters and signs were made and exhibited by the Pep Clut urging everyone to support the team. 25
