Not pictured: Elenora Mertz. A HISTORY In the fall of l9U5 eighteen bewildered Freshmen began their educa- tional careers in the Bowdle High School. Delores Lassle and Ervin Buechler were the freshmen queen and marshal cand1dates.Erv1n Buechler dropped out d the class after the first six weeks. The class chose as their class offi- cers of the year, President, Ervin Buechlerg Vice-President, Carol Commetg Secretary, Lavaughn Schleppg Treasurer, Dale Oster. When school started in September, l9l+6 Loretta Miller did not return, and Shirley Delker joined the class. The Sophomore queen and marshal can- didates were Donelda Lange and Dale Oster. Delores Lassle and Adeline Fleck left the class during the second semester. The class selected as their President, LaVaughn Schleppg Vice-President, Nelvin Roebuck: Secre- tary, Darlene Albrechtg Treasurer, Gletus Huber and Student Council member was Alvin Kundert. Dale Oster and Wesley Helmer received letters in bas- ketball. Fifteen juniors enrolled in Bowdle High School, on September 8, l9b7. The class elected as President, Alvin Kundertg Vice-President, Carol Commet Secretary, Jayne Hartzellg Treasurer, Nelvin Roebuck. Darlene Albrecht was chosen as our Student Council member. The class elected Lila Dumdie and Alvin Kundert as their candidates for carnival queen and marshal. The Jun- ior class play Grandad Meets a Pal, was presented on December ll, 19147. Roger Poe, a freshmen, took part in the play. The audience seemed to en- joy the efforts of the cast. In the second semester William Dockter joined the class. The only member of our class who participated in Declama- tion was Allene Bleber who gave an oration. The G1rl's State candidate who was chosen by the faculty was LaVaughnNSchlepp. Letters in Basketball and football were awarded to W. Helmer, D. Oster and C. Huber.A beautiful gypsy scene was the setting of the Junior-Senior Banquet which was held in the Catholic Church Parlors on May 13th, 1938. Later the same evening the Sen- ior class was the guests at the Prom which was held in the Bowdle High School Gym with Ray Palmer and his Orchestra furnishing the music. 13
