SENICJR CLASS PROPHECY Dear Diary: May l9, l96OH-Today, Donnie Lange, a member of our graduating class of 'DS came into my office in Chicago to consult me about some night- mares he had been having lately. We got to talking about old times and we realized that it had been exactly 12 years ago today since we graduated. We had dinner together and Donald told me all about his new position as President of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Co. I always did think Donnie had special reasons for going up to the depot back home. Meeting this former classmate revived memories and made me search through my diary for information about.my other classmates. June 13, 1950---Wedding bells for Bonnie Lee Merkel ! I was pleased to be her bridesmaid. After all her last name is now the same as mine. Jose- phine Bachman was Maid-of-Honor, she had returned from college and plans to take up a secretarial position in a large city. December 22, l95O---Noticed by the Bowdle Pioneer that Marvin Hoffman has taken over his Dad's service station. Wonder if he took over because he likes the locat1cn???? Also see that Oscar Ehresman has returned to Bowdle for Christmas vacation from the State College. I gather that he still is devoting a portion of his time to tending ducks and chickens. February 10, l95l---Received a long letter from Doris Baer this morning. She stated that she is now operating her own beauty shop in Minneapolis. She is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fiance who is about to be dis- charged from the U.S. Navy. She also mentioned that her fiance met Kenneth Herman, surrounded by a bevy of beautiful girls, on a tropical island in the South Seas. Kenneth is the Captain of a steamship bound for Zanzibar. August 5, 1953---Being badly in need of a rest, I decided to take a trip to the West Coast, arrived in Los Angeles today and immediately locked up De- lores Buechler. I found that she is head of the Finance Department lnlthe Woolworth Co. This proves that she has not lost her interest in UB1lls'. March ll, 1954---Noticed in the New York Times that Donna Schumacher has certainly advanced in her career as a model. She is now modeling for Saxton's on Fifth Avenue. I have often wondered whether she is still Hcarrying the torchn for that certain classmate of hers. September 28, 1955---Had to,go shopping today for a baby gift, as I re- ceived an annoucement from Maggie fneel Geler. This is her third child, all boys. She ls still carrying out her plan to have only men around. July 3, 1956---Had the surprise of my life today when I received a call from the airport. Josephine Bachman, now private secretary to the Pres. of the U. S., arrived here for the National Republican Convention. We en- joyed lunch together and she told me that she is devoting her time to two meng her husband and the President. Yes, Jo ls still the same old girl. She said that she frequently sees Maybelle Haupt, who is remodeling the White House. She is one of the country's leading interior decorators. April 25, 1957---To calm my nerves tonight after a hard day at the office, I turned on the radio for some soothing music and was pleasantly surprised when I heard a program broadcast from the Silver Castle Nightclub in Hawaii owned by Donald Murray. Looks like he still prefers night life. May 12, 1958---I read in a Chicago paper that Albert Sebert, a prominent South Dakota farmer was called to Milwaukee to receive an award for grow- ing a new kind of barley for brewing superior beer. December l6,1l959--HHeard through some of my friends that another of my classmates was to appear on the radio program Hlnformatlon Pleasen. I hurried right down to see Delbert Schalble, Pres. of the Standard Oil Co., make his usual late appearance. Guess he still hasn't changed his policy of always being late where ever he goes. March 2, 1960---Great day for me! Hung my sign nlrene Buechler - Psychi- atrist , on the door of my new office. Went dining and dancing with my One and Only to celebrate the occasion. 12
