B ourne High School was fortunate to have as members of the Class of 1987 three exchange students: Nico Wohlschlegel from West Germany, Christine Lampe from Norway, and Kosuke Yamashita from Japan. Nico’s host for his year in America was the Savarese family of Pocasset; Christine spent her year with the Ward family of Monument Beach; Kosuke’s year was hosted by the Cundy family of Sagamore Beach. Each of these students participated in our school’s activities and utilized its facilities and opportunities to the fullest. Kosuke, Christine, and Nico enjoyed their classes and their fellow students; they particularly enjoyed our sports programs, which are not part of school life in their countries. Although all of our exchange students have missed their own families and friends, as they leave us to return to their homes, they will take fond memories of the United States with them. What will they miss the most about us? Their host families, their new friends, concerts, being able to select courses, and sports. What won’t they miss? School food.
