FLIGHT PREPARATION: I remember the sense of pride we all felt as we took our place as juniors. Upper classmen at last, we were aware of our new status and our record shows the strides we made. One of our greatest achievements was the freshness and creativeness of our Junior Prom. Our theme, Rhapsody SENIOR CLA In Blue will long be remembered by all of us We worked hard 1n making our skating party and class picnic successful trying hard to prove ourselves in preparation for what we would undertake the following year WINGS AT LAST Off and flying we rushed lnto our senior year with hopes high whirling amid the bustling of act1v1ty We got the year off to a wonderful start with our senior play Mystery At Greenfingers The middle of the year marked the de parture of our devoted friend and principal, Mr Henry C Jensen We were fortunate ln receiving in h1s place Mr Harry Swift, whom we are grateful to for helplng us com plete our last year with such success Time flew by so swiftly, and our recollectlons of our last big dance together, our Senior Ball, complete with tux, billowing nets, and the fragrance of flowers, will always be foremost in our memories We shall never forget the fun and enjoyment, which we always experienced in all of our undertakings, cllmaxed by our senior trip Time was draw ing closer, and we selected as our graduation theme, the class ring. Upon donning our caps and gowns. we, the senior class look back on Bound Brook High School and see all we have contributed and received. The ceiling of the Elks Ballroom was covered with blue and white streamers and sparkling silver stars. Colorful musical notes adomed the walls and windows. Two soft blue lights brought out the sparkle of the centerpiece which was a huge silver star that hung from the ceiling. Besides dancing to the music of Clarence Mick and his orchestra, everyone enjoyed the entertainment and special door prizes which were awarded. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the King and Queen who reigned over the affair from their beautifully decorated thrones. Almost our entire junior class worked together on the various committees to make this social event a success. General chairmen of the prom were Charles Teryek and Maryellen Marrow. The other chairmen were: Decorations: Barbara Castelli and Julius Sulmonetti. Orchestra: Carmen Marotto. Clean-bp: Jim Diehl and Tom Donnelly. Chape- rones: Maryellen Marrow. Publicity: Diane Beecher. Bids: Joyce Arcieri and Carmen Marotto. Refreshments: Marilyn Kistner. Chaperones for the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Frank DuBowik. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Merrill, and Mr. and Mrs. George Schumacher. Special guests for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jensen. PATRICIA BEl..um1NEl.LA THE JUNIOR PROM-SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 1956 3. T T DR. MACKENZIE President of the Board MISS SZWAHLA Secretary DR. GALLAGH ER Superintendent 5 , x c MR. BROKAW District Clerk BEHIND THE SCENES A perfect exemplification of the old familiar saying Out of sight-out of mind is our Board of Education. Because they work behind the scenes, little is seen of this group of individuals. Yet they serve as the back'bone of our system of public education and work without pay and little praise. Let's meet some of the members of this group. Dr. Ralph P. Gallagher is well-qualified to be a member of the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools. His education began in Michigan country schools. Upon graduation from a small-town high school in Fowler, Mich- igan, Dr. Gallagher then attended the State Teachers College of Michigan and Rutgers University. He also at- tended New York University, Harvard, and Columbia Uni- versity Teachers College. It was at the latter college that Dr. Gallagher was awarded his B.S., M.A., and Ed.D. degrees When not busily occupied with helping Bound Brook schools to be as good as possible, Dr. Gallagher takes Tennis and skating take up what leisure time Dr. Neil M. Mackenzie has. As President of the Board of Educa- tion, the niajority of his time and effort go into Board affairs. A graduate of Yale in 1934-, Dr. Mackenzie received his Doctor's degree in organic chemistry in 1937. A B.S. degree was awarded Mr. Robert E. Brokaw upon graduating from Rutgers University in 1924. Preceeding this, Mr. Brokaw, who is Secretary of the Board of Edu- cation, attended local schools. The years following his grad- uation from Rutgers were marked by employment in vari- ous banks. Evenings found him attending the American institute of Banking, to pursue his studies. Also devoting their unselfish services are: Mrs. Scott Maclennan, Mr. Ross Slingman, Mrs. A.
