IUITI-I Tl-IE CLHSS GF 45 lt was a ra1ny September mornrng when three hundred and f1ftyf1ve prospectrve freshmen gathered from eas and west to form the class of 45 After electrng Bob Grogan presldent Kathleen Barber vrce pres1dent Mar lone Stadele secretary and Ioseph Sunderland treasurer we settled down to the work at hand Thrs was th f1rst year of war so we were 1n1t1ated w1th ratronrng pr1or1t1es and meatless Tuesdays Followlng the example of our predecessors we had a successful maga zine sale One Saturday afternoon an excluslve class party arranged by Mr Eugene Bradford class dean took place rn the gym Marrlyn Cornwell Grace DQCFIQ tofer Katre Gutberlet Iohn Ogrlve and Lours Recchra showed genurne dramatlc talent 1n the class product1cn Sugar and Sprce To end the year successfully we hlked up to Northover Camp 1n the old Watchung Moun ta1ns where gallons of soda and crates of marshmallows GGIUS Hoffman Cup was presented to us for our socral and athletrc achlevements and general excellence It was the frrst trme 1n Bound Brook Hlgh School s hlstory that a freshman class had recelved thrs coveted award' After enloylng a well earned vacat1on we wended our way back to school For many days we plagued the freshman class We notlced w1th regret the absence of Mr Bradford and Bob Grogan both of whom had been clalmed by the Navy The pre rdent s post was fllled by Ioseph Barch Kathleen Barber was re elected vlce president Susan Greene was chosen for secretary and Dorls Caul was our treasurer Under Mrss Elvrra Youngs guidance We peddled personalrzed statronery Our ludlcrous play Make Room for Rodney starred Mary Cook Iohn DICKIHSOH B1ll Rogers lohn Ogrlve Louls Recchla Betty SIDOS VValter Baxter and Connre Pratt Although Walt Baxter drdnt learn hrs lrnes trll the very last mlnute the play was enloyed rmmensely The end of the year came qulckly and we were all exceed mgly happy In the comrng fall we would be an oldster class lim SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Slandmg President Ray Ccrsrm Left to Rrqht Marlene Stadele Treasurer Susan Greene V1cePres1dent Olga Bama Secretary A summer fxlled wrth more work than play passed Former salesgrrls secretanes delrvery boys factory and whrte collar workers formed the lunror Class Among the many new teachers we welcomed were M1ss Lang Deutsche Lehrerrn Mrs Lee Enghsh teach r and d1rector of the buskrned stage and Mrs Fordemwalt concocter of the cafeter1a speclals loe Barch began hrs second term as pres1dent and breakrng all precedents V1cePres1dent Kathleen Barber started on her thrrd Barbara Shea was secretary whlle Susan Greene served as treasurer The lunror Prom brrghtened the year s socral schedule Gulded by MISS Stevenson s rngenulty the dance commlttee decorated the gymnaslum to represent a Gay Nrnetres street scene The Iumor lournallsm Class publrshed the S archlrght Pat Sferra was elected edltor ln chref of the 45 Echo ln the sprlng the school presrdentlal campargn opened Four 1un1or boys Brll Rogers Lou1s Recchla Walter Baxter and George Lebedz battled sprrltedly ln the frrst ballot George better known as Whltey came out vlctorlously Under the able management of Ray Corslnt and Brll Rogers the class theater party was frnanclally successful So ended our Jumor year Page Fourteen 9 . . . , t , if , , lg.
