GIRLS AND BOYS OF THE MONTH DECEMBER Janet Groft Marc Schipper NOVEMBER Joyce Hansen Ron Bush Girls and Boys of the Month are selected for their scholastic leadership, service, and participation in school activities. The Boulder Lions Club sponsors the boys, who are chosen by former Boys of the Month, Mr. Leffer- dink and Mr. Greer, and Zonta Club sponsors the girls who are likewise chosen by former Girls of the Month and girl ' s counselor, Miss Densmore. Knox Wasley, Don Hovde GIRLS AND BOYS STATERS Linda Redus, Janet Rusheon, Kitty Paddock GAIN EXPERIENCE IN DEMOCRACY Ten representatives were sent to Boys ' and Girls ' State for the summer of 1964. The three girls sho attended were Kittr - Paddock. Linda Redus. and Janet Rusheon. The boys who represented Boulder High School were Richard Best. Don Hovde. Jack Ott. Arlen Stokes. Knox Wasley. Larry Wilson and Tom Wolzien. The alternates were Iris Connolly. Jill Coppom. Ann Willyard. Bob Dugan. David Jacobson. Bob Kane. Bill Laterman. Alex Pasquariello. Harlan Shannon and Curt Stocker. While Bovs State was being held at Colorado L niversitv. Girls State was held at Colorado College. This opportunitv is designed to give high school students actual working experience in democratic government on the city, county and state levels. The girls were selected by the American Legion Auxiliary on the basis of speeches and letters on Whv I Would Like to Attend Girls State. The bovs were recommended by their American History teachers, and then selected on the basis of speeches made before the American Lesion. 21
