I.. id LEFT TO RIGHT: Hurst, Snioot, Macy, Morrison, Mr, Schneider, Uverholscr, Walstrom, Rose, Atwell, Maslin, Pender Young, ,deed The year 1955 marks the 3rd birthday of Speech Club and also a year of very important events. Highlighting these events was the annual district rneet. Speech students came to Boulder High from three states, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Colorado. Approximately 400 students were in attendance. Other meets included Novice Debate at Regis in Denver, N. F. I... Congress at Greeley, second N. F. L. Congress at Denver, Debate Tournament at Regis, lnvitational Speech Meet at Ft. Collins and many more. Speech Club is one ofthe few clubs at Boulder High which is engaged in direct competition with students from other schools. Popular events at these meets include debate, extemporaneous speaking, original oratory, dramatic declamation, humorous interpre- tation, poetry reading, and radio speaking. Coach Schneider's strict training rules have shown up in the top honors Boulder has obtained. Boulder High Speech Club ranks as one of the best in the district. 70 1, ' IHX6, F J lv I ul 1, sth A . if-5-Xl!-l -- ' , , . . .1 ,H J Au . .. - I V 5, vs xg l , is A D iq 1- X f. The club consisted of all B. H. S. club presidents and class leaders, including OWL and ODAROLOC editors. The club sign, the triangle, represents the relationship between the faculty, the student leaders, and student body. Among other things, the Triangle Club drew-up a schedule chart for club meetings. According to the chart, each club was to meet on a specific day, at a specific time. The chart kept clubs from meeting on conflicting days. Club presidents often ironed out club conflicts during the Triangle Club meetings. The club's officers were: Anne Rein'l, Presidentg E. Jay Hiltv, Vice Presidentg and Ellen Lewis, Secretary. 71 , iw., -, v 'I QD IO UC 101 St. Nick's Day to eature espian fChar1es Dickens' Immortal ' 5' I h H- h 'W t Old Scrooq onat an ouq tor rays 1 A Lhristmas C With Elayiit- Hhcirabough, Marilyn H John Overliolser in Supporting Role 4.,I,lp 4 l ,,.,i, i , , ,N i , l g'-grim Hi -...ii .oi ttf lt, I ,- llywg ' :i1l :,1.i - ', It ,i lxi:-'i. The Panthers, under the coaching of Merle Lefferdink, wound up 4th in the Northern Conference with a 4-6 record. The team led the con- ference in defense, but lacked the offensive punch to be in first place. ln the season's finale the Panthers poured it on arch-rival Longment by a score of 66-36. That night the seniors--Don Davenport, Lynn Lischer, Dan Menking, Keith Phillips, Ron Myers, Ron Copeland, Chuck Winn, and Dick Babcock--ended their basketball careers at B. H. S.
