Swimmers swamped A rather disappointing season, O-IO, was recorded by a small swim squad. Future meets look brighter, however, as the whole team will be returning, except for seniors Marlene Brookhart and Debbie Brenchley. The team rarely could enter more than 15 girls in competition. As Coach Harmel- ing ruefully remarked, l guess it's still building. Go Cougars! chanted team members Inga Talbott, Katie Dent, Jenny Bollinger, and Jenny Saylor. Diver, Jenny Saylor, picked into a W1 forward dive. l t - i i ,,,,,, sch 3 i N x QS., if r . Harriers chased rest of league all season Harrier, n. l-Any of several hawks, all of which course back and forth over meadowlands 2-A breed of small hound Wigs, employed in hunting the hare. 3-A cross country runner. W Whatever you call them the BHS harriers set a fast pace throughout the season. The girls raced to a fifth place at KingCo and the boys repeated their eighth place at league. Only two seniors left the cross country team. Bob Gastineau left the boys team, and Leanne Buckley turned over her Jil girls spot to Kari Jonassen, leaving a winner in all eyes. In post-season racing Jonassen was stopped at District by a sixth place finish, with Buckley running past District and State meets to place seventh in the Nationals late in November. ...ll x. x 2 The girls' team leaned into the opening race against Shorecrest. -215' 1 lun ' i Different forms of preparation are shown by these motley-looking harrlers W Below: Bourg, Gastineau and Priestman attempted to ace out a Buckley crossed the finish line alone-again.
