NSEA Northshore Education Association served professionalism in the district in a variety of ways, from salaries to curriculum improvement, calendars to legislation. SCHOOL DIRECTORS Meeting the second and fourth Mondays of every month, with many special meetings between, the Board of Directors worked to bring a good educational program to Northshore School District 417. After weathering a hard-fought election for two mem- bers, the Board faced many contro- versial issues in 1971-72, including negotiations packages with teachers, finalizing Open Campus at both high schools, a crucial decision on separ- ation of church and state QNicky Cruz was not allowed to speak during school hoursj, and initiating a chal- lenge system within the secondary school curriculum. On March 14, the Board learned the results of the perennial Special Levy election, to indicate faith of the voters in their program. Looking ahead, the Board is plan- ning for a new high school - possibly a vocational school - to serve the growing population in the Northshore area.
