But what mere camera can photograph a school--any school-and present a true picture of it? For a school is more than just a building with teen-age stu- dents inside, spacious lawns outside, a blue sky with a few clouds overhead. A school reflects the personality of the students it shelters and their hopes and desires make up its purposes, ideals and principles, its reason for being. No chain is stronger than its weakest link but, from the outside looking in, it is hard to distinguish what and who pro- vides the driving force. You can see its impressive brick structure and per- haps catch a glimpse of its corridors or classrooms filled with busy students, but you aren't actually able to tell why the school functions so smoothly and at such an effortless pace. No photo- graph is a true picture of a school. These rallies, held on the main street of town, stopped traffic while enthusiastic students cheered their gridiron heroes. Later in the year the Band played for basketball and baseball glmes as well. In their snappy blue and red uniforms, they provided an interesting background and musical accompaniment for the baton twirlers who appeared with the Band in the pep assemblies and other performances. One of the Band's greatest accomplishments this term was the Concert held on March 27th and 28th. The proceeds from this annual recital, which featured several solo num- bers as well as selections from the entire group, was donated to the Field Lighting Fund. In May they traveled to Wenzitchee to participate in the Apple Blossom Festival. Besides playing for school affairs such as the Foot- ball Dance, these five music-mak- ers also provided the rhythm for several others in Seattle and the surrounding vicinity. Anyone who has heard them perform will agree that the Swing Band is indeed a y credit to Bothell High. Grant Spicer, Tony Hansen, Herb Horton, Harold Malcolm, Eddie Arnold.
