Hiss Hartman, Adviser Chris Morgan, President NEW TO BOSWELL STUDENTS-LATIN Twenty-five students in the beginning year Latin class organized the first Latin club of Boswell High School in October. Club activity furnishes an opportunity for novel and pleasurable introduction to Roman civilization. Club members develop leadership, responsibility, and appreciation of ancient art and litera- ture, and have FUN learning Latin at the same time. F.F.A. ON THE GO Wayne Buck, F.F.A. Advisor} Allen Shepperd, President} John Hern, Vioo President} Jim Goodvine, Secretary} Ed Dalton, Treasurer; Hank Carden, Reporter; Jim Orr, Sentinel. New officers and a new advisor, Mr. Wayne Buck, started the Boswell FFA chapter on the go. The chapter motored to Brookston for the Farm Progress Show in September and to Chicago for the International Live- stock Show held in November. During the second semester the group studied judging with participation in county, district, and state judging contests as their goal The primary aim of the Future Farmers of America is the development of agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship. The organization is designed to supplement training opportunities for boy3 who are progressing toward the goal of establishment in a farming business. Through FFA activi- ties, the cooperative spirit is fostered and individual talent is discovered and developed. Here is a school of experience in the art of working together for a common good. Future Farmers not only work wbII together, but they know how to provide organized recreation for themselves and others in the community. Here again this organization of, by, and for farm boys provides ample opportunity for games, sports, and other recreational activities appealing to the farm boy. As an integral part of the program of vocational education In agri- culture in the public schools, the FFA has become well known in recent years. AND FRENCH CLUBSH B.H.S. French students organized a French Club in November for the purpose of giving further study to French customs and tradi- tions. They are hoping they will find French Pen Pals who will keep them posted on situa- tions existing in France. The added advantage of a tape recorder and tapes aided greatly their study of French language and culture. A field trip to a French restaurant in Chicago and plans for attending a French play were included in the club's plans.
