It be- gan the year by going to Hoopes- ton, Illinois, to march in the National Sweetcorn Festival par- ade. This began the year by being seen by several thousand people. The band performed on the floor for six home games, including the All-Star Basket- ball game. It was received very well at each show. Also, on the schedule was the annual Christmas program on Dec. 22, 1958. Here the chorus along with the band again presented a fine portion of the program. Included in the trio were Marcia Morgan, Violet Buchanan, and Marilyn Burton. Entered as a saxophone solo was Janet Liptrap who also received an excellent rating. Janetalso entered the piano contest and received a superior rating. On March 12, the band parti- cipated in the County Band fes- tival at Boswell.
