V History of Junior Class That precocious child, known as the Class of 1930, was born on September Q0, 1996. At first it was unwieldy and unorganized like most Freshman classes, but it soon demonstrated the strength and ability which has stamped it as one of the greatest in the history of Boston University. From the first we were destined to be conquerors, and on Field Day we defeated the Sophomores in every event. It was the first time in five years that a Freshman class had shaken off the ignominy of the green tie. Having won our freedom we flung a challenge to the upper classmen by taking the lead in all branches of athletics. Led by Carnie, Jerome, Nelson, Keyes, George, Currier and others we set a mark that should stand for years. In other college activities and social life, we also stepped into the front rank. Recognition of our success was given when Lock tapped fifteen of our men, and the names of twenty- five appeared on the Honor List. The Freshman Formal at the Statler was a fitting climax to a successful year. As Sophomores we won again at Field Day, defeating a strong Freshman class. YVe carried on the good work started the previous year in all college activities and closed another successful year with the Formal at the Copley Plaza. Now we are Juniors, we have come into our heritage, ahead of us lies the cold grey world, but this year we shall enjoy college as never before. It has been a great year for B. U. We have seen the Nickerson Field dedicated, and plans for a centra- lized University to be built in the near future. In both of these projects we have had a hand.
