Sneath, director of debate, announced that John W. Perkins, former Harvard debater, had been reappointed as coach of the University's teams. As John F. O'Brien and Daniel L. 0,Donnell, former B. U. debaters who were members of last year's coaching staff were not returning, George C. Sheldon, former Bates debater, was appointed as assistant coach. Benjamin Gordon was appointed Varsity Man- ager. The initial victory of the season was scored January 11 when a team composed of Frank A. Bauer, Carlton W. Spencer, and Louis A. Novins defeated the Spring- field College team on the question Resolved: The present American Jury System should be abolishedf, The Varsity team debating on the Jury question will enjoy a splendid trip through New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio where they will meet the strongest teams of those states including Lafayette, New York University, University of Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Western Reserve. ., W .
