Raymond Gustafson, went through the most successful season in the history of golf in the University. The team was comprised of William Chesley, Richard Breed, 'Richard Knowles and Alfred hfaggioli. It won six matches out of nine played, an extremely fine record for such a young and inexperienced team, which had for its members three sophomores and one freshman. Hfuch of the credit for such a successful season belongs to Boston University's first official golf coach, Fred T. Corcoran. lNIr. Corcoran, who is the lllassachusetts State Handicapper, not only took time off from his already taxing program to coach the team, but he also furnished his home course, Albermarle, to the squad for practice. His services were gratis. He piloted the team to victories over Boston College, 6-0: Holy Cross, 8-1, Tufts, 6-0, M. I. T., 5-lg Bowdoin, 6-0, and Worcester Tech, -L-Q. The team lost to Harvard, 4-23 Brown, -L-Q, and Dartmouth, 5-1. Inas- much as the defeats were close matches and were taken from experienced teams, no shadow of disgrace should rest upon the team. Prospects for the 1929 season are extremely bright with Fred Corcoran sched- uled to be with the team again and every member of the 1928 team, but one, return- ing. NVilliam Chesley will again captain the team and Arthur E. Lathrop Jr. has been appointed manager. Another diflicult schedule is being arranged and another successful season is anticipated. J mf' V- .. . . ,ff ' WRESTLING C.-xP'r.ux M.xGc:1or.1 The second year with the Boston University wrestling team under coaches lNIaggi0li and Shimon was so successful that wrestling was recognized as a minor sport at the close of that season. This brought to the team a new mentor, Ed Mc- Crillis, a former Brown football and wrestling star. Coach 1NIcCrillis is, at present, a senior at the Harvard Law school. During his undergraduate days he was the undefeated college wrestling Champion and one of Brown's football heroes. After graduation he played professional football with the Providence '6 Steamrollers The team's first meet of this season was an informal one with the Boston Y. IVI. C. A. in which the B. If. matmen won two of the five matches. Boston If. next met Tufts. which is considered the best wrestling team in the East. In this meet the team was handicapped by the absence of Captain hlaggioli, who had suffered an arm injury. Although Tufts won the meet, the B. U. team made a splendid showing. Manager Kozol has matches arranged with Harvard, BI. I.
