W., .... .-. . ,.,.. , ,. ix g Buds l Y ? In 1915 there came into existence an Evening Division organization whose primary interest was the fostering of the art of debate. It was a poineer in the field- q BUDS, the evening division debating society at C. B. A. J E 'J Since that time it has been the leading organization among evening students. I Great strides have been made in the development of capable speakers. BUDS has Q been well represented on the varsity debating teams. BUDS has been aptly called the melting pot of the Evening Division. T BUDS meetings are where students become acquainted, form friendships, and engage in friendly rivalry in debate. From these associations come a large part of the unity of spirit prevailing among all the classes. In debate BUDS has had an active year. The weekly debates held in Room Q6 1 g have been concerned with many current problems. To be sure, we were unsuccessful in the Shannon Cup Debates, but we derived a great deal of satisfaction from the I decision of the judges, which was 2 to 1 in favor of Webster. From this debate it was evident that we continue to produce capable performers upon the forensic platform. C I This year BUDS has held two social affairs. The first was a merry get-together party at the beginning of the year. The second was a bridge and dance party held at the Winthrop home Of Miss Dorothy A. Nay, where a picked team carried Off the X prizes. Our annual Old Timers Party was held at the end of the second term. Any Evening Division student is eligible for membershipg We welcome new members and visitors. We claim among our members all active students of the Evening Division. CHARLES M. VVILCOX E.
