Che Town ln the senior high school the school nurse correlates her work with that of the Health and Physical Education Department, the school doctor, the shops, and the classes. She interprets the results of physical examinations, and the results of vision and hearing tests to the pupil. Pupils ore also referred to the nurse by the teachers, and she tries through consultation to determine whether a physical condition is the cause of inattention or disin- terest. She tries to make the pupil understand the need for rest and relax- ation, healthful diet, knowledge of the basic food needs, vorious habits of personal hygiene, the importance of cleanliness, good posture, and the care of the teeth and eyes. It is felt that at this age a pupil can understand a health oppraisal, and an interest can be engendered to have him have his physical defects corrected and to induce him to make an effort to improve his general health habits. .f IMI TY X Consultation on Personal Health

i i i i Mr. Francis J. Murphy, Guidance uidcuzce' and jyfacenzezzf Under the leadership of our Guidance Instructor, Mr. Francis J. Mur- phy, we are constantly informed of the necessary qualifications expected of the prospective mechanic in the field of industry. Most important of these ore reliability, promptness, and the ability to get along with other workers in the shop. These and good moral character are considered even more valuable than complete mastery of the trade, and those boys who develop best in these are first thought of by the Placement Department, under the direction of Mr. Francis J. Harrigan, when iobs in industry become ovailable to our boys. This department has been highly successful in placing a large number of boys in congenial and profitable places in industry. High, Wide, and Handsome All Together gylzysicaf and gfeaffb Cgducafion The obiect of our Health and Physical Education program is to inform the pupils, ond indirectly their parents, of the need of health education and physical training. The pupils learn about the many illnesses which occur in daily lite, the application of first aid in case of emergency in or away from home, and the structure of the human body and the many weaknesses to which it is subiect. Our health program emphasizes physical training, because the phys- ically fit are often protected against illness. That is why our nation so strong- ly supports physical and health education. ln addition to the general train- ing ot all students, special instruction is given to our athletes to help them maintain good condition in their activities. Physically fit boys are our most important product here. We hope you can see the importance ofthe program to your school and to its students. Keep Rolling Health Education
