Dx .ffaffzemafics We of the faculty in the Mathematics Department at the Boston Trade High School believe that our courses creote in every student a proper under- standing of and competence in mathematics We teach fourteen different trades in this school on every one of which mathematics has a bearing Some require much knowledge in the field while other trades require only a knowledge of mathematical fundamentals Bearing this in mtnd we begin with the younger students w th a well rounded course in arithmetic helpful to them as artisans and cs citizens Algebra is the sublect of the second year in which the solution of the various formulae necessary to the various trades is thoroughly covered Dlane geometry the study of the area ond the capacity of oblects of different sizes and shapes is studied The seniors take up our most advanced mathematical tudy trigonometry so useful in many trades but particularly in that of Radio and Electronics All in all we feel that our courses in mathematics are sufficiently bos ic well rounded and comprehensive to meet the challenge thot will en oun ter our students as they venture forth into a world replete with intricate and complex problems in technology the answers to which will come from those who are skilled in the arts and trades Fundamentals in Algebra 'V' ld

flass in American History gfisforq ln the tour year course in history which we study in this school, the topics include geography, local government, business forms, general history and economics-all with the principal emphasis on the United States- that we as citizens of this great republic shall know and understand our heritage, and that we shall oppreciate the advantages to us in a system based on the rights ofthe individual. During our study we examine particu- larly that greatest of political documents, The Constitution of the United States of America. As artisans we study the rights ond duties ot the laboring man that we may be good and responsible citizens, free to move around from place to place in practicing our trade and tree to make our own choice of what we wish to do. l-loving studied this four year course carefully and having considered its offerings intelligently, we cannot tail to be good men, good citizens, and good Americans it we follow its teachings consci- entiously. 1 l Checlfing US History Data
