Bench Work Slzeef meh! Slwp When we first enter the sheet metal department, we ore introduced to the tools and the machines we will use in our worlg. Some of the tools we become familiar with are- the riveting hammer, the rivet set, and the airplane snip. Of machines we learn the use of these: the burring, the thick edge, the crimping, and the sheet iron folder. ln sheet metal work we must acquire proficiency in measuring, cutting, braking, forming, riveting, double seaming, ond soldering. Layout work is an important part of our work. The parallel line, radial line, and triangulation are emphasized. All types of fittings are developed by these methods, and by'the time we become seniors we are able to Icy out by one or more of these methods fitting for air conditioning systems, ventilation plans, warm air units, and ship yard work, The theory behind our work is taught to us in related science and related mathematics. In these we learn the scientific and mathematical basis of our work, ond memorize the formulae necessary to it. Soldering
