Explaining Emergency Fire Alarm gre is rm l'XC6!!6IIf servrnzf, Auf wlzuf ll Mriifer. Later in the year we had another demonstration, this one on the use and misuse of flammable liquids by a representative ot the Ethyl Corporation, This demonstration was impressive and useful to the boys ot all trades, but particulory to those who deal with automotive engines or with paints. In addition to these approaches through the shops and through assemblies, we have a special group of students who have discussed the standards of safe trade practice over the radio. This group was under the general management ot Mr, O'Connor and Mr. Wolk. A further emphasis on safety is rrade through our regularly practiced fire drills in cooperation with the Boston Fire Department. Any boy passing through o tour year course of training at the Boston Trade High School must have a keen awareness of the need for sate shop practice and tire prevention, and the Hxed habit of being careful at all times. Safety and gire ?F'6V6IZfi07Z ln o trade school, by its very nature, there is more need for strict observance of safety rules and fire prevention regulotions than in other schools. For that reason, in every shop in the school the principles of general safety and the particular requirements for safety in that particular trade are constontly stressed . The same is true in class. We even have special assemblies on the subiect. ln the early part of the school year, vve had an excellent talk on fire by Lieutenant John Frongillo of the Boston Fire Department, a talk in which he not only pictured .he ho' rors resulting from the wrong use of fire, but also the great dependance we have on fire, if properly handled, for human com- fort. l-its talk was skillfully arranged and expertly given for boys in a trade high school. The Jhotogrophs on the occasion were taken by Fire Department photographer John Kelley. We thank the Boston Fire Department and these gentlemen for their visit to us.
