10 FR. JON PARKS — PRINCIPAL OUR NEW PRINCIPAL Father Jon Parks comes to Don Bosco Tech with a small case of calendar years and a large trunk of school experience. Though a young man, Father Jon has lived in four regions of the country, taught in three, administered in two, and now has finally arrived at the one-and-only New England. A native of New Orleans, his first encounter with the Salesians was as a student at Archbishop Shaw High School. After graduating from Shaw, he went to Don Bosco College and became a Salesian in 1968. In 1972 he graduated from College with his degree in philosophy. He returned to his alma mater in the South, and for two years he taught history and math. Intent upon the priesthood, Father Jon moved to the Salesian theologate in Columbus. Ohio, completed his studies, and in 1974 was ordained a priest. After ordination he was assigned as Vice Principal at Salesian Preparatory School in Cedar Lake, Indiana. Soon after he was called to Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, where he served as Administrative Vice- Principal. In May 1980 the sojourn ended and Father Jon arrived as Principal of our own Don Bosco Tech. Fr. Jon brings to his students and faculty all the graces and benefits of his priesthood and religious life. He plans to improve and develop those academic programs that truly meet the needs of our students. He invites all to share with him his hobbies of cooking and science fiction reading. Finally, Fr. Jon is impressed by the spirit and loyalty of Don Bosco students and would like to see them both continue and grow. THE BEAR FACTS, Nov., 1980
