ART ACTIVITY One of the most active clubs, under the expert guidance of Mr. Ralph Rosenthal, is the ART CLUB. For in this club the many creative posters used in the school, the droll cartoons for the Artisan, and all the realistic settings in our assemblies are produced. Comprising of those who have a bent with paint and brush, the ART CLUB often encourages some of these boys to continue this gifted work in art schools after graduation. Further works of the ART CLUB can be noticed throughout this yearbook where the members have greatly contributed to its perfection. “Me, cheat ?”’ First Row: Spiegal, Abany, Kleinglass, Kizner, Kahalas, Accomando, Harty, Nelson. Second Row: Mr. Rosenthal, McGowan, Weiner, Ciampa, Ross, Daforno, Stanish, Omansky, Gillin, Barth. rf ae 8 ‘oA — : , } teed —

THE ARTISAN The Artisan is now in its fifty-ninth year of publication. The combined talents of its staff, both literary and artistic, have won it several awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, of which it is a member of long standing. Being a general magazine, the Artisan contains not only the fiction, poetry, and editorials of Tech’s budding young writers, but also the accounts of our illustrious athletic squads, outstanding clubs, and just plain news from the stu- dent body itself. Under the direction of Mr. James Burns, the literary advisor, and Mr. Ralph Rosenthal, the art ad- “Come on, everyone, sing” visor, this fine publication has earned itself a prominent place among high school publications across the nation. The Artisan regularly exchanges issues with over three dozen of the nation’s finest high schools and prep schools. This year the staff was one of the largest and best qualified in the history of the magazine. In the years to come, the Artisan will grow in importance as the sounding board for the intel- ligent opinions of the students of Boston Technical, and as Tech’s calling card at prominent schools throughout America. First Row: Harrington, Cannata, Accomando, Kahalas, Sandofsky, Weinstein, Martin, Wong. Second Row: Mr. Rosenthal, Carroll, Murphy, McGowan, Gutterman, Currier, Daforno, Helms, Comeau, Kooyoomjian, Rich, Albanese, Mr. Burns.

Mr. Kahn, musical director, has trained his young musicians to perform like profession- als. At Assemblies the blare of trumpets, the roll of drums, together with brass and woodwinds are combined in a mu- sical picture to the delight of both students and faculty. In addition, there are several virtuosi who provide the spark and vitality of this highly entertaining group. It is, un- doubtedly, one of the finest of school bands to be assembled in the Greater Boston Area.
