My Sincere Good Wishes .. . TOPTTE, CLASSSOF 1965.0 I am delighted that the editors of the yearbook have seen fit to dedicate the 1965 Technician to me. I do not know why I have been singled out for this dis- tinction, unless it is that the passing years have made me the longest serving member of the faculty of this school; but whatever the reason, I am greatly pleased that I have been honored in this way. From my pleasant association with many of you in the classroom and out, I am inclined to believe that this year’s graduating class is, on the whole, as fine a body of young men as can be found in any high school, and I am confi- dent that most, if not all of you, will put to good use the valuable education that you have received here and thus bring credit to yourselves and honor to your alma mater. To all of you I extend my sincere good wishes for your success and happiness in the years to come. Joseph Moran

Be Generous and Merciful . . . How can I get the deepest, fullest and richest measure of happiness out of my life is a question that sometime or other every thinking person poses to himself. Money, fame, glory, power, judged by the lessons ofhistory, w ould seem to be the most intensely desired prizes of vast num- bers of yearning mortals. Does the achieving of one, or all, of the dazzling prizes of life enable one to capture the elusive phantom — happiness? Is any degree of steady and long lasting contentment possible in a world where wars and rumors of wars hang over the heads of all like the fabled sword of Damocles ? What answers to the above challenging queries do prophets, saints, philosophers, scientists and men of wis- dom give us? A reasonable amount of steady happiness appears to be possible of attainment (at least most of the time) if you strive strongly for justice for all, (that means you fight constantly on the side of God) be generous and merciful, learn how to keep your body and mind healthy and strong by doing what medical scientists and religious teachers advise us to do, and then (this last is so hard but not impossible to implement) find some life work that brings joy and satisfies your deepest aspirations.
