The CHESS CLUB, under the direction of Mr. Gordon, carries the honor and prestige of the school into the field of the “Game of Kings.” Having many proficient members, the club has become one of the best in the city. They have defeated a number of other high school chess clubs, a factor attesting to their growing skill. It isone of the most respect- ed activities in the school and requires much concentration in addition to a keen mind. Next year the team hopes to realize the potential of several juniors and sophomores and, as a result, continue to maintain its high standing in school- boy competition in the Greater Boston Area. Mr. Gordon is faculty adviser. “T picked this near the Blarney Stone in old County Cork”

This select group of highly skilled artisans is one of the most popular and active organizations in this school. Led by our highly ' talented art instructor, Mr. Ralph Rosenthal, this group of young men is living and breathing proof that appreciation of art and artifacts is not dead in the minds of this genera- tion. These young men learn the basic techniques of ceram- ics, mosaics, the molding of clay, and the making of glaze, not by reading from a text, but by actual doing. The im- portance of an organization dedicated to the sculptural arts is necessary to a well-rounded education and cannot be taken lightly. ce . and memorize the Gettysburg Address”

CORRIDOR PATROL Third Row: Marshall, Joy, Rudman, Alcarez, Adams, Sahl, Giorgio, Cervone. Second Row: Bonarrigo, Midi, Kavanagh, Sandafsky, Lacey, Berch, Reis, Swartz. First Row: Mr. Cronin, Gelven, Trunfio, Stein, Kizner, Gutterman, Skaparas, Whiton, Bourne, Schwartz. Security of personal property, and silence in the corridors are basic to the efficiency of a large educational complex. The Corridor Patrol fulfills the need for a force of dedicated young men to handle the mana gement of our vast corridors. Under the leadership of Mr. Cronin, these students guard the various floors of our school against the intrusion of unauth- orized travelers and are instrumental in the passage of stu- dents from one lunch to another. In such a large physical plant as ours, some sort of traffic managers and security guards are essential, and our fine Corridor Patrol fills the bill admirably. ‘There he goes; get him!”
