A ama aah The ARTISAN is now in its fifty-sixth year of publi- cation. It is published three times a year and contains a wide variety of literary accomplishment. Poetry, short stories, essays, cartoons, sports stories, and gen- eral information are to be found within this prize- winning magazine. With eye-catching covers designed by members of the Art Staff under Mr. Rosenthal, the ARTISAN is a member of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Mr. Thomas Wall, whose expert supervision as literary advisor brought recognition from many sources, was promoted to Chairman of the English Department at Boston Trade School. This year’s staff has demonstrated much energy and ability, a factor making the ARTISAN one of the finest school magazines in the country. The ART CLUB, under the brilliant guidance of Mr. Ralph Rosenthal, produces illustrations and truly witty cartoons for “The Artisan,” scenes of high artistic merit for assemblies, posters for many purposes, and numerous masterpieces entered in various art contests throughout the city and the nation. Made up of stu- dents who demonstrate a flair with water colors, oils, free-hand drawing, sketching, and the like, the ART CLUB is often the springboard which enables some students to continue their creative work in art schools after graduation. One of its most important functions is the excellent work accomplished for the Yearbook. Humorous sketches capture the flavor of the lighter mood at Technical High. MR. Mr. Kahn, Musical Director, has trained his young musicians to perform like professionals. At Assemblies the blare of trumpets, the roll of drums, together with brass and woodwinds are combined in a musical pageant to the delight of students and faculty alike. In addition, there are several virtuosi who provide the spark and vitality of this highly entertaining group. It is, unquestionably, one of the finest of all High School Bands in the city. MR.
