We did nothing, it seems, but fill out information cards and receipts, and of course there was very little homework. Until we learned our way around the school, we were forever coming into classes late with the silly excuse, “I got lost!” This was. partly due to the upper-classmen who beguiled us continually, sending us up to the swimming pool on the seventh floor, to the telegraph department (the carrier pigeons in the old tower), and to the dark and dreary forge shop.

In one of these assemblies, we first learned of Junior Achievement, which consists of a number of small businesses run by its own elected officers. Our first year finally came to an end and we departed for a pleasant vacation. The following September found us once again. facing the not unhappy
