Dedicated to Mr. Miller can look back upon a long and diverse career at Latin School. Almost forty years ago, he taught the incoming students a variety of subjects: science, history and even physical education. He then devoted himself to the classics, showing an enthusiasm and love for Latin too much lacking today. The seniors of the Class of 1981 will best remember Mr. Miller for his stint as Acting Headmaster during the school ' s most troubled period. We thank him for his devotion to Boston Latin School and to us. . . . David Miller 1 , 5

Headmaster ' s Message The accomplishments of your class are an indication of the tremendous importance that you, as students, place upon acquiring the educational experience needed lor future success. You have maintained a dedication and interest in the realization of your goals at a time when it is common to downgrade our insistence upon academic excellence. Our goal at Boston Latin School continues to be the preparation of young men and women to become educated and worthy members of our society. You have the opportunity and the means to make a constructive contribution to the improve- ment of mankind. It will not be easy to accomplish your goals without a continuing dedication to hard work and a con- tinuing devotion to duty. Every freedom, every right, and every privilege have their prices and their corresponding duties without which they cannot be enjoyed. You have been given the means to succeed. What you do with your lives will be an indication of how well you have learned the lessons taught at Boston Latin School. Much has been asked of you dur- ing your stay with us. Often you may have questioned the value of your experience here. The fact that you have com- pleted your education indicates the importance you place upon completing our rigorous course of study. As graduates you have earned the recognition and respect of those that have preceded you. Recognize that with maturity comes the responsibility to ensure that your Alma Mater continues as a viable institution of learning. You must support us in every way so that we may continue to provide your successors with the same opportunities that you have received. Anything less than maximum effort on your part will diminsh the heritage and tradition that you now enjoy as graduates. Your success as a class is a source of pride to your teachers, your parents and especially to your Headmaster. We will always remember you and hope that you will continue to share with us your future thoughts and successes. May you experience happiness and joy in the years that follow. May God bless you all.
