DEDICATED IN LOVING MEMORY OF DENISE A. DALY AND DONALD PERELLA As we, the Class of 1980, forfeit the carefree days of our youth for the responsibil- ities of maturity, let us not forget two who were taken from us too soon. To Denise A. Daly (1962-1978) and Donald Perella (1962-1979), we dedicate this book. For some of us it is true that the days of our youth are the best days of our lives; for some, the future holds the promises of dreams fulfilled; for Denise and Donald time was precious and they gave the world all that they had in their young lives. As we ponder the memories of Denise and Donny, we can’t help remembering all of the happy things. There have been many written remembrances of these two, but in all of these afterthoughts, it is most important for all of us who knew them to hold a special place in our hearts to remember them . . . smiling. We fellow classmates of Denise Daly and Donald Perella must keep foremost in our thoughts that their happiness was stronger than any sorrow we may recall.

IMMORTALITY Do not stand by my grave and weep . . . I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am a diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awake in the morning hush I am the swift upflinging rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft star shine at night. Do not stand by my grave and cry . . . I am not there. I did not die. Denise A. Daly ( 1962 - 1978 ) Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so: For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more. Death, thou shalt die! John Donne Donald Perella ( 1962 - 1979 ) 3
