CLASS HI TORY The first day of September, 1944, twenty bright-eyed, eager little boys and girls started their first year of schooL Due to the loss of the grade building by fire, we went through the first and a part of the second grade in the high school building. Mrs. Sharp was our teacher both years. Lola Allen, Jerry Hart, Mary Frances Stelle, and Carol Jean Camden are the only ones who have remained during the twelve years. In the second grade, we were delighted to have enter into our class. Larry Lafuse. Those two years passed and we were all promoted to the third grade. While in the third grade we were fortunate to have a cute, short, blonde haired girl from Richmond join our class. Of course, we are refering to Shirley Ann Murphy. Mrs. Fordyce was our teacher. Before the year had ended Jerry Hart left us. In the fourth grade, we had Mrs. Johnson as our teacher. Nancy Shook came in our class. After a tough year in the fourth grade, we were promoted to the fifth grade. Mrs. Barber was our teacher. Here we enjoyed having fruit rolls for our wonderful teacher. They really were quite exciting. Mrs. Barber decided one pleasant year with us just wasn't enough so she promoted us to the sixth grade and again she was our teacher. While in the sixth grade we had more fruit rolls. Easter time rolled around and we thought since it would be our last year in the grade building, we should give our mother's a nice program. Larry sang Chattenooga Shoe-Shine Boy , and all of the girls made hats out of cardboard and sang Easter Parade. Jerry Hart came back to our class. The next year was quite an exciting one, we went to the seventh grade and to the high school building. Our sponsor was Miss Riefel. While in the eighth grade, the Junior class sponsored a talent show. Lola, Carol Jean, Shirley Ann, Mary Frances, and Nancy sang Buttons and Bows . We won first prize. Mr. Dean was our sponsor. We had a class party at Kuhlmans. Mr. Hobson was our sponsor in the ninth grade. We had a food auction to make money, and a class party at Bowen's for fun. Again we added three new members to our class, Lloyd and Lowell Godsey and Bob Bowen. We got tired of being called Freshies and so finally after a year we were promoted to the Sophomore Class. Mrs. Beckner was our sponsor. We made fudge and sold candy at noon. Jerry Hart left us again. We added two girls from Riley, Sylvia Hall and Shirley Rentfrow. We got our class sweaters that year. Juniors. . .. .. . Only two more years to go. Miss Lake was our sponsor. We gave a play The Nutt Family . The Juniors and Seniors went to Ball State. We got our Class rings and we gave the seniors a reception. Seniors. .. .. Well this is it. Jerry Hart came back to us. John Wyatt came to us from Richmond and Fred Miller from Webster. We had the play Her Step-Husband. We took our trip to the east. We graduated. . . . . . . . . . W
