Following its eviction from McElroy offices in September 1971, The Heights editors establish- ed substitute headquarters in the offices of the Undergraduate Government. But The Heights wanted its own office; UGBC wanted The Heights to have its own office; unfortunately, the resident of Botolph, lacerated thrice too often by Heights ' barbs and soon to vacate his own office, felt The Heights should share his officeless fate as well. The story changed with Fr. Monan. Approached by the Board of Directors of The Heights, Inc., as the completely independent corporation which publishes The Heights is known, Fr. Monan gave the go sign to Vice-Presi- dent for Student Affairs James Mclntyre, and negotiations for office space in McElroy were on. By late October the paper was back, with desks, phones, partitions, and two rickety typewriters. But the paper had never really left. Even during its exile, it had struggled to put out a paper or at least something that looked like a paper. Now, with new offices, both new and old editors, a growing staff of over 50 students. The Heights is back to its old tricks, though a little more subdued. There is no bugging this year; But there are still Thursday nights with pizza and beer. But the editors remain steadfastly decorous, at least in print, especially with its $900 a year lease up for renewal in April from the ever press-conscious administration. 134
