A little wistfully perhaps. I marked t.he child Facey, who had received as a graduation gift, a silver-plated bib from the class. Hiding i11 a. covert on James Street was Austie munching a banana, while Carey was frantically retrieving hirsute appendage he had shed during the 11igl1t. In happy groups-they were all departing sing- ing joyous Songs of freedom, breathing heavy sighs of relief. I turned my eyes to the stars, But whatf' thought I, what -o-f the days to 97 come? Like a flash Old Father Time ceased his merry jaunt and came to unwind for me tl1e future days. Before the vast vistas of success a11d fame he opened to me my spirit quailed. It was dim and vague andlyet I saw+ I I Q Yes! there was Cahill in the plumbing business! A perfectly natural pursuit for Joe. He always spoke tluidly and forgot things. As I marked lliln he was returning to his shop to get a bl-ow torcl1. I think Scolpo needed a shave. Austin rode by in his big Rolls-Royce. l always had a feeling l1e would make a good chauffeur. He tired easily, made a lot of brakes, and was always gassing. Allan McCar- thy sat in the rear. Methjnks Revere's open coast. offered wonderful opportunities for a bootleggerg no wonder Allan has the dough! Now Gil and Austie came by on their ice-wagon. They always teamed up well. Gil's voice is just grand-for an iceman. Austie was always a bit. of a gambler and I chuckled when I saw that he was still following the horses. I Saw Dave Hunter and friend Mul i11 a crowd on the corner. In fact they were the cause of the crowd. They were selling hair- t-onic and talking as fast as they could.
