'apo' 'Dol' 'Oni' 'Don' 'ops' 'sql' aaa apo ego ago ago noon cg: The early days of September, 1922, found the class. of IF, almost wholly intact, in a new locality on the second floor flanking the B-otolp-hian office on the left and, over the door, a new caption-2 F. New room and new name indeed, but old friends and, best of all, former professor. Beneath the beauty of an embossed ceiling we began the second year of our course. Steadily-and swiftly, too- we advanced under the regime of Mr. Matthews, S. J., as our regular professor, aided 'bv Mr. Dempsey during the matliematics period. At the beginning of the second term, Fr. Cummings was added to our staff of professors to preside over the Modern History class. Upon sitting down in our new quarters, the election of class officers was held and when 'he ballots were counted the results were: President, Stephen Cavanaughg Vice-President, Vincent Rob- erts, Treasurer, VVilliam Sallengerg Beadle, John Kelley. As the days marched on, our tree of Learning and Fame increased and spread, casting its shadow far and wide. Those who assisted in its growth were many-scholar and athlete both. On the football squad there were Cavanaugh and McCarthy of 2 F and, on the track team, McCarthy. Nearly the entire class were members of the McElroy Debating Society and two of the Societyls offices were held by Healy, as Vice-President and Devenny, as Treas- urer. At the Prize Debate three of the debaters hailed from 2F, namely: McC-rohan, Leen, and Devenny. Another medal fell to the lot. of the class that evening through the pronounced' ability of John Mcflrohan. . Under Captain Swanson, the class basketball team, champions of the previous year, began the season with wonderful prospects but, through SOIIIG misfortune, held but second place at the season's close. In our gaily decorated room, t.l1e class Christmas Celebration, instituted the year before, was repeated, a11d with hugh success. After t.he vacation-which changed, some of our classmates from children to men, in appearance at least-there came a month of repetition, and then the mid-year exams. Once more 2F was foremost, leading the entire second year. Following the exams a few members of dis- seminated 2 E were cordially received and were soon active members of the class of their adoption.

THE FORBIAN Vice-President, Dennis Sughrueg Treasurer, John Hartnett, Secre- tary, Paul Marlowe, Beadle, Arthur Dolan. The class safely weathered the storm of mid-year vxauiimitions and turned to the second term in earnest. During this term we held our Iirst class social. An attractive program and menu was pro- vided by Mr. Matthews, S. J., and-well, a. good time was had by all. Our class drew first blood in forensic endeavors when John L. MCCPOIIRH won the Juniorplilocution Prize. In passing, I would like to call attention here to the fact that every medal and prize in elo- cution and debating in the High School has been won each year by various members of the class. Thus passed our Freshman year at Boston College High School and I am sure that I express the unani- mous sentiment of old I F when I say it was a year replete with joys and successes. THF FORBIAN Then came the second semester elections, which resulted as fol- lows: President, Stephen Cavanaugh, Vice-President, Eugene Swan- son, Treasurer, VVillian'1 Sallengerg Beadle, Francis Ward. In tl1e Dramatic Society's yearly production, 2 F was again rep- resented by Felix Doherty, whose portrayal of f'Reggie was an out- standing feature of f'The Seven Keys to l3aldpate. The Junior Elocution Contest called forth three members of the class: Fitzgerald, McCrohan, and Deveuny. This coveted medal was also won for 2F through the admirable efforts of John Fitzgerald. On the staff of the Botolphian for both issues, were found the 11a1nes of Gillooly, 0'Brien, Doherty, and McCrlohan, all of Second Year F. The characteristic power of 2F was once more evident in the Woodst.oclz Aid Drive, when the class finished in second place., Looking back over the pages of the class of Second Year F's history, adorned as they are with a multitude of conquests, and vic- tory rightfully deserved, one cannot but readily admit that that class, as yet but half t.hrough its scholastic course, under the watchful guidance of Mr. Mathews, the beloved friend and confidant of each and every member of the class, had already iinbibed deeply and were practicing religiously the desire and example left for all classes by the noble founders of glorious Boston College High School-ffAien Aristeueini' A X EUGENE J.
