BOSTON -- 1776 I Aboard the BOSTON, you're not only a member of the ship's company of i the world's first guided missile cruiser - the harbinger of the future - you're also a part of an American seafaring tradition as old as our nation itself. So while you proudly gaze at the sleek lines of CAG-1 and the deadly beauty of her needle nosed Terriers - remember - ship's bearing the name BOSTON have fought for the United States in almost eve ry war this nation has engaged in during the past 182 years. 5 ' In 1776 the first of six BOSTONS was commissioned. She was a Z4-gun frigate who enhanced her name by capturing numerous British ships in both I I I Eu1'0Pean and Caribbean waters, and by carrying the Honorable John Adarr1S, Commissioner to France, to his post in 1778.
