A DA YFOR THE POOR lt happened on July l3th I'll never forget A black-out that showed the poor how to fete Abe Beam is mad Con Ed is to be blamed The 'big apple' is in trouble once again Con Ed made a promise back in sixty-five We would never see a black-out that's no jive Twelve years later we are in the dark Twenty odd hours Con Ed got off the mark People were shopping in the middle of the night With cars and trucks they took everything in sight The Toomes were closed no mummies to be seen Now it's filled with those who didn't break clean The cops were on patrol that very night Taking in the scene and not staging a fight There is a time to be rich and a time to be poor Those who had courage protected their store This black-out they say was really a witch Those business men were left in the ditch Over three thousand people were arrested Now thejails must truly be infested One smart thief who knew how to spell Cleaned out a supermarket his family lived in hell Most store owners ripped off the poor This was the time to even up the score LEAHCIM YASMAR
